From Amos Tauna, Kaduna
The Management of Kaduna Electric, the operator of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KADECO) has raised an alarm over the increasing cases of vandalism of its installations by unknown persons saying that the act was counter-productive.
The Head, Corporate Communications of the Company, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, while narrating the ordeal the company was passing through, revealed that the company is losing valuable power supply equipment worth hundreds of thousands of naira to the activities of the vandals.
According to him, “Within the space of five days, we recorded cases of vandalism in four different sub-stations in Narayi, Unguwan Yelwa and Sabon Tasha, all in Barnawa Area Office of Kaduna metropolis, adding that four other distribution sub-stations were vandalized at Unguwan Rimi two weeks back.
He disclosed that the company would work closely with all law enforcement agencies with the view to bringing the perpetrators of the nefarious acts to justice, stating that, “The menace is causing serious set-backs to the renewed determination of the company to provide steady and qualitative power supply to its customers.”
He appealed to the security and intelligence community as well as their customers to step-up vigilance around power supply installations especially at night.
