The Kaduna State House of Assembly on Wednesday confirmed Alhaji Ibrahim Sambo as the permanent Commissioner ,state Independent Electoral commission (SIECOM).
This followed a letter dated January, 30th, 2018 from Governor Nasir Ahmed el-Rufa addressed to the Speaker of the House Alhaji Aminu Abduhilla Shagali requesting the assembly to approve appointment of Sambo to serve as permanent Commissioner in the state.
The nominee appeared at the House plenary presided over by the Speaker, Alhaji Aminu Shagali, where he was screened and confirmed.
Speaking during the screening exercise, the speaker appealed to the new appointee to conduct a free and fair local government elections which according to him is coming the next three months.
Moving a motion for confirmation, a member representing Ikara constituency Alhaji Abdulwahad Idris Idris said the nominee was a man of proven integrity who has held so many positions in the state.
“He has proved him self as hardworking honest transparent person in view of this Alhaji Ibrahim Sambo as the commission he will give fair share in any election that will be conducted under his watch he moved a motion that the nominee should be confirm and take a bow and leave” he stressed
Responding, the Governor’s nominee, Ibrahim Sambo assured the Assembly that he is going to work diligently to ensure credible elections in the local governments.
Alhaji Sambo who has a Masters In National Affairs and Diplomacy(MIAD) , was born in 1960 in Ikara Local Government Area of the state and the former permanent secretary, Ministry of Rural and Community Development.
