Eyitayo Jegede with a total votes of 760 has emerged winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ondo Gubernatorial Primaries in the polls held on Monday in Akure.
His opponent, Oluwasanmi Saka Lawal trailed far behind with only 22 votes cast in his favour.
Announcing the results, Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson described the conduct as successful.
He praised both candidates, adding that there was no loser in the contest, as they are both winners.
“The final results. We don’t have loosers in PDP. Both are winners. Oluwasanmi Saka Lawal – 22. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) – 760. The PDP flag bearer for the forth coming Governorship election in Ondo State, having scored the highest in this lawful, free and fair exercise, is Eyitayo Jegede (SAN),” he declared.
New Nigerian observed that with the outcome, Jegede will be squaring up against main contender from the All Progressives Congress (APC) who will emerge from their primaries this week.
