Chairman Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari on Sunday asked Nigerians to always be their brothers’ keeper irrespective of religious and tribal affiliation.
Senator Buhari who gave the advice in his Christmas message made available to newsmen in Ibadan to congratulate Christians on the celebration of this year’s Christmas said the time has come for Nigerians especially the Christians to allow their actions and thought be guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ who preaches love and humility.
According to the Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District Christians in and across Nigeria should emulate the life style of Jesus Christ, and be their brothers’ keeper irrespective of religious and tribal affiliation.
“We have come a long way together and we should continue to tolerate and relate with each others as brother and at the same time work together for the advancement and development of our dear country.
Nigeria as a country needs our unity and contributions together to survive the current situation and if we pray and fight against the unwanted situation together we shall win together and enjoy its dividends” he said.
While urging Nigerians not to lose hope on future of Nigeria, Senator Buhari “we should demonstrate the kind of faith and patience which Jesus Christ demonstrated during his lifetime and believe that all will be well soon”.
Wishing the Christians faithful a wonderful Christmas celebration and a prosperous 2018, Senator Buhari prayed for good development, peace coexistence and more progress of the nation in the year ahead and beyond.
In his Christmas message, the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Value, Honourable Segun Dokun Odebunmi urged Nigerians to seek for Unity and progress of the country.
Honourable Odebunmi specifically asked Christians in Nigerians to let the teachings of christ reflect in their lives and relationship with fellow countrymen with other religious background.
The lawmaker representing Surulere/Ogo Oluwa Federal constituency added that ” Christ preaches peace and Unity and Love, Christians should always extend love to their neighbours and seek for Unity and progress our dear nation” as Nigeria will soon regain its lost glory
“Though we are not where we ought to be as a nation, but we are gradually moving up and with our consistent prayers for the country and our leaders and total commitment to Nigeria project we shall get there’ We should not allow what we are going through to influence negative thinking and action towards our country or fellow countrymen but we should always pray and works towards sustainability of our democracy and advancement of our dear nation'” he said.
