Its time for Nigerian legal practitioners to boost their practice with technology – Ex NBA Chairman

Former  Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ibadan branch, Barrister Kazeem Gbadamosi has asked legal practitioners in the country to comply with the technological advancement and apply it in their practice.
Barrister Gbadamosi stated this in Ibadan while speaking as guest lecturer at the law week of Lead City University Faculty of Law.
According to him, the time has come for Lawyers to always make use of the development in the technological industry to boost their practice.
“Make use of technology to network yourself in the field, this is the era of information technology, everybody irrespective of his or her profession must comply if you want to succeeded and remain relevant in the field,” he said.
Barrister Gbadamosi pointed out that “one of the problem in the profession today is that young lawyers don’t want to undergo tutulage under senior Lawyers”, adding “but pupilage is very important not minding how much you are being paid but it will prepare you for greater challenges”.
The former NBA Chairman stressed that undergoing such would further expose a fresh lawyer and enhance his or her mastery of the practices that abounds in the profession.
Barrister Gbadamosi however urged prospective lawyers to be focussed, embrace good character as well as, uphold ethical standards of the profession.
He described the sanctions melted on erring Lawyers and Judges as part of the internal mechanism instituted by the Nigeria Judicial Council to sustain the ethical standard of the profession.
Speaking, Justice Nonyerem Okoronkwo of the Court of Appeal, Ibadan also emphasized the importance of pupillage to law practice, saying,“I have always recommended a minimum of five years and with this I believe a new Lawyer would stand a different person in the practice”.

Justice Okoronkwo then urged prospective lawyers to read a lot and build for themselves unquestionable integrity.
The Dean, Faculty of Law, Lead City University, Dr Shittu Bello, declared that the institution’s law faculty has been approved by the National University Commission and Council of Legal Education and that  the institution’s commitment towards giving the students the best of the legal education as well as to ensure high moral standards.
