A former Security Adviser to Kaduna State Governor and Commander Operation Yaki Col. Yusuf Yakubu Soja rtd has advised Government to set up a committee without politicians that will bring to an end the current insecurity situation the country is experiencing.
He gave the advise at the annual 10th day of Ramadan breaking of fast held at Emir of Zazzau’s Palace on Wednesday, stressing that the committee should compromise traditional leaders, religious and Miyetty Allah leaders.
Soja said, the rampant kidnapping of human beings like chickens is at an alarming rate as well as armed robbery is another problem which needs urgent steps to tackle.
The former security adviser who expressed worries and concerns about the security situation in Northern Nigeria which he said between 60 to 70 per cent of youth are jobless.
While identifying that another factor of security threat is how young and committed soldiers, Police and other security personnel are dismissed from the service because of the offence they commit despite the experience they had professionally instead of dismissal they should be sent to prison for a certain period of time.
“Corruption is another problem which people don’t take serious but it has a very negative impact because people are watching how elite are making their life in an extravagant way.
On the Nigerian borders, Col. Yakubu Soja called for the provision of modern equipment and facilities for the Nigerian Immigration personnel in order to check what is coming in and out.
He said, the war in some of the neighbouring countries has helped criminals in importing arms into the country through illegal means.
In his remarks, the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris advised parents to be vigilant on what their children are doing and the type of friends they are associating with.
Emir Idris thanked Kaduna State Government for it’s untiring efforts to bring the security situation under control in the state.
He prayed for peace and unity to continue to prevail in Zazzau Emirate, Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole.
The annual Ramadan breaking of fast had in attendance, the Commandant Depot Nigerian Army Major Gen. Mohammed Sani, Zaria Area Commander Nigerian Police, Zaria Area Commander NSCDC and Divisional Police Officers as well as traditional title holders, District Heads among others.
