The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Zamfara State office has registered a total of 122176 new eligible voters in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration [CVR] exercise in the state.
Addressing newsmen in Gusau, the Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Asmau Sani Maikudi said since the CVR began last year April, the commission has registered about 72000 are male and 50173 women.
“In Zamfara state we are conducting the exercise in 30 centres, 14 centres are located at the INEC LGA offices while the remaining 16 centres are located at various registration Centres/Wards, where the Registration Officers conduct mobile registration to ease the difficulties earlier faced by prospective registrants”, she said.
She added that presently over 58000 Permanent Voters Card [PVCs] are ready for collection in Zamfara state therefore called on those who registered in 2017 to come to collect their PVCs starting from next Monday.
“In order to ensure that all prospective registrants are not disenfranchised, the Commission is carrying out mop-up registration at the Zero polling Units where new DDC machines were deployed”, she said.
