Imo APGA Crisis Deepens, Splinter Group Emerges



A splinter All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) group has  emerged in Imo
State, following the crisis which has rocked the party in recent times due to it’s inability to conduct primary elections on all the elective political positions.

Addressing journalists in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Thursday afternoon, the splinter group known as “new APGA “ Dr Sam Amadi alleged that the new APGA has issued a vote of new confidence on the National and state leadership of the party.

According him the leadership of the party can best be described as “monumental fraud” which should face the economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC).

Dr Amadi disclosed that the new APGA are made of majority of the aspirant in to various positions and some aggrieved members of the party.

He further accused the National working committee (NWC) and the dtate executive committee of the party of gross incompetence, theft and betrayal of the party stakeholders in the State.

The New APGA spokesman, said that they have resolved that all the monies extorted from the aspirants by the leadership of the party, must be refunded.

He explain that grouse followed the inability of the National leadership of the party to make do with it’s assurance that it would conduct credible primary elections in all electives positions of the party.

In his words, “ the party turned the primary elections in to money making venture from where it raked billions of Naira”.

He further alleged that 150 aspirants into the State house of assembly paid N1, million each, 66 aspirants under the platform of the party, into the house of representatives paid N2.5 million each, while 15 aspirants, for the senate seats, paid N5 million each.

According to him, the party also realized the sum of N190 million the 19 governorship aspirants who bought the party nomination and expression of interest forms for the governorship seat.
