Imo 2019 Guber: PDP Elders Back Ihedioha’s Candidature

The committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elders in Imo State has finally okayed the emergence of the former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as the party’s governorship candidate in the coming 2019 election.

Also, okayed by the committee, is the result of the primary election into various political positions for the state.

This ratification took place at a joint meeting of the Elders Committee, state working committee of the party, various candidates for positions and all the aspirants held at the party’s secretariat in
Owerri, Friday.

Speaking at the meeting the chairman of the council of elders, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu applauded the way the party’s primary elections were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.

He congratulated the governorship flag bearer, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha
for his victory at the primary election.

The joint meeting resolved that all members of the party should support and work hard to secure victory at the general election in 2019.

Also speaking, one of the governorship aspirants and former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUTO), Owerri,  Professor Jude Njoku commended the convener of the joint meeting, explaining that he contested for the governorship primaries in 2014
despite the outcome, he maintained membership and loyalty to the party.

He said that this time he can attest to the free and transparent process by which the primaries were conducted.

Professor Njoku said further, that not withstanding, he will continue to support and work with the party.
