ICT Paramount To All Round Development – Ex Commissioner

Information Communication Technology (ICT), has been identified to be
very relevant to the overall Development of Human Environment.

The immediate past Commissioner for environment in the last
administration of former governor Rochas Okorocha, in Imo state, Bar.
Chinyere Uwandu, expressed this opinion in Owerri, Thursday, during
her recognition with an award of excellence and long service by the
association of Mbaitolu Journalist.

According to her, Information Technology is paramount and leads the
way to the overall development of every human environment and
existence.

Speaking through her representative, during the occasion, Engr Kelechi
Eme, the former commissioner, believed firmly that information
technology as the in-thing now rules the world.

She urged journalists to encourage the growth of information
technology by imbibing the culture and use of the technology in the
discharge of their duties.

The former commissioner revealed that she is considering establishment
of a facility that would train youths of Mbaitoli local government
area on information technology.

According to her, the facility if established would train at least
1000 youths on information technology every year, pointing out that
this could be part of her contribution to develop the local government
area.

She however used the occasion to call on all other sons and daughters
of the local government to help promote the growth of information
technology (ICT) in the local government Area.

The former commissioner appreciated the association for recognizing
her long and meritorious service in various capacities in the last
dispensation and to the people of the local government area and the
state in General.

She promised to partner with the association in making sure that
Mbaitoli local government area ranks top in committee of local
governments in the state.

Earlier, the chairman of the association, Mr. Chidiebere Iwuoha, had
explained that the association had followed the performance of the
indigenes in various government positions, before it came up with the
decision to recognize and honour, the former commissioner with an
award of excellence and long service.

He noted numerous land mark achievements recorded in the area by the
former commissioner while in service and called on other indigenes of
the local government areas of high in  ranking public and private
positions to emulate the former commissioner Barr. Chinyere Nwandu.
