As uneasy calm is still reigning at  Oke-Ado, Oke-Bola, Imalefalaafia, Liberty road, Anfaani areas of Ibadan over the bloody clash between factional  members of the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC), the
Oyo state chapter of the Otunba Gani Adams led OPC faction on Tuesday said non of its members was among the 46 people arrested by the police in connection with violence.

Already, the state Police Command has confirmed the death of one person in the OPC factional bloody clash.

The OPC faction made the clarification in a press statement signed by its state Coordinator, Comrade Rotimi Olumo, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan claiming  that the bloody clash  was between two gangs of thugs from Foko and Oke-Ado areas of Ibadan.

According to Comrade Olumo, the OPC in Oyo state was ready to collaborate with the state police command and other security agencies in the state in ensuring the arrest of trouble makers in the affected areas.

Specifically, Comeade Olumo insisted that the violence had nothing to do with OPC, adding that,  members of his group “were only invited to come and quell the crisis by the Caretaker Chairman of Ibadan Southwest Local Government Area, Hon. Gbenga Opaleye.”

“I received a distress call from the local government Chairman, asking OPC to come and assist the police to put the situation under control. I then called the chairman of our group in the local government, Comrade Akin Osa, to assist the police at the scene.”he said.

Comrade Olumo lamented in the statement that it was surprising that some elements in the state are hell bent at tarnishing the image of members of the Gani Adams led OPC in the state by linking them with the bloody clash.

Emphasizing that members of the Gani Adams OPC faction  have remained law-abiding, he lashed out at those he tagged  enemies of the group who are hell bent on rubbishing the good image of the group because of their personal and selfish interests adding that “OPC in Oyo state will continue to assist in sustaining the peaceful environment in the state, and will not fold its arms and allow some hoodlums to disturb the peace that has been reigning in the state for about seven years now.

Speaking during a phone in programme on Fresh FM newspapers review , thd Oyo state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Adekunle Ajisebutu said only one person was confirmed dead in the bloody clash between hoodlums in Oke Bola,Oke Ado and some parts in the area.
