Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State has said that he will accept the outcome of the Gubernatorial and House of Assembly election in good faith.
He said, “I believe it’s Allah who gives power to whom he wishes and whatever Allah has decreed for us we will work with it Insha Allah”.
Governor Abubakar, who was speaking to journalists shortly after casting his vote at Jahun Sarkin Baki 2 polling unit, commended the smooth conduct of the ongoing election in the state.
He said ” There is improvement, everything is going on smoothly after we arrived myself and my wives, within few minutes we casted our votes I want to commend INEC for that”
When asked about the turnout of voters taking into consideration people that came out during the presidential election are higher that the number of people that came out this Saturday
He said, “You know some people will only come out to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari other will come out for Governor, but it’s too early to assess now because election time is still on up to 2pm”
Meanwhile, Governor Muhammad Abubakar, who is seeking re-election under the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been defeated in his polling unit by his main contender, Bala Mohammed, of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presiding officer at the centre, Gindin Durumi polling unit of Bauchi Metropolis, Chinedu Onora, announced that the APC candidate polled 288 votes while his PDP counterpart garnered 358 votes.
The New Nigeria Peoples party (NNPP) had 20 votes while Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) 11 votes, and 55 votes were also recorded invalid
