Despite initial opposition to the inclusion of a nominee from Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, (Danjuma Salau) for a cabinet appointment by a section of citizens from the area, the nominee has scaled through screening by the state House of Assembly and was amongst the four sworn into office by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello on Wednesday.
With the four new Commissioners, the total number in the state rises to 21.
Speaking shortly after the four were sworn into office, governor Abubakar Sani Bello charged the Commissioners to hit the ground running for the good of the state as there was no room for indolence, procrastination and indecision.
He cautioned that no cabinet member was special or should be considered as one above the rest. ”There is no favourite or super Commissioner in this administration” he said.
Governor Sani Bello added however that those who excel in ensuring good governance, management of human resources through frugal, hardwork and dedication to work, would be given the respect and recognition they deserve.
He said his administration was concerned more about service delivery, diligence and is result oriented than on personalities.
“Let it be noted that no Commissioner is superior to another. There is no super Commissioner in this administration. It depends on what you make of your office that makes your office super”.
He therefore charged them to excel and have their names etched in gold through dedication, hardwork and decency in their public conducts for posterity sake. ” Your appointment is a call to service. You must see this as an opportunity for you to do well and add value to the state and move it to greater heights”.
The governor further charged the new Commissioners to abide by administrative protocols, follow due process and avoid the lure and temptations of the spoils of office which could lead them into confrontation with the law.
The four new Commissioners sworn in are Danjuma Salau, (Information and Communication), Isah Kanko, (Land and Housing), Kabiru Abbas, (Budget Planing, Special Duties), Duza Emmanuel, (Sports) and Zakari Bawa (Lives Stock and Fisheries).
Four Permanent Secretaries were also sworn in by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Maria Dzukogi at the occasion. They are Hussaini Ahmed, Dr. Abdullahi Usman Imam, Mohammed Sadauki and Dr. Ibrahim Garba Musa.
