Youth wing of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), has alleged that the crisis between herdsmen and farmers across the country is blackmail and intimidation to annihilate Fulani race from Nigeria, thereby calling on Federal Government to create Ministry of Livestock to cater for their needs.

MACBAN, made the call in a press release signed by it’s National Youth Leader Modibbo Abdulkareem Bayero made available to newsmen on Monday in Kaduna.

According to him, at the end of an extraordinary meeting in Kaduna, they resolved to appeal to the Federal Government of Nigeria to salvage Fulani ethnic race from the ongoing blackmail and intimidation meted on them by farming communities across the country.

“The MACBAN organization calls for the creation of livestock ministry to cater for special attention on abundant livestock products owned by Fulani race in Nigeria as the utmost solution to the farmers/Fulani herdsmen conflicts in the country

“MACBAN urges the Federal Government to enforce state of emergency in Benue State as Governor Emmanuel Ortom has already recruited private security outit from his natives to invade the nomads settlements in the State.

“Thousands of the nomads livestock are daily rustled by the livestock guards recruited by the Governor who now used military weapons for their unconstitutional operation.” he said.

He emphasized the urgent need for the withdrawal of the “so-called” anti-open grazing exhibition law staged by Benue and Taraba State Governors.
He noted that thousands of Fulani youth who rear cattle as their occupational activities have been placed on uncertainty as their livestock in Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, Taraba, Kaduna States are ransack by the local farmers.
