Gunmen kill 5, injure 2 in Kaduna

Unknown gunmen on Monday evening in Kaduna invaded Gurguzu village, close to Maguzawa, a suburb of Rigasa in Igabi local government area of Kaduna State, killing five persons and leaving two others injured.
About 500 people from Gurguzu village are presently displaced and taking refuge at a primary school in Rigasa for fear of the unknown.
Meanwhile, the State government has asked the citizens in Kaduna town and environs to remain calm and go about their lawful business, as security agents have launched a manhunt for the killers.
The incident happened around 6:00pm on Monday, when unknown gunmen stormed a farm in the village on a motorcycle and shot people on the farm land leaving five people death and two others with different degrees of injuries.
New Nigerian gathered that the injured victims were rushed to the hospital and are recovering.
Briefing newsmen after the State Security Council meeting, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Tijjani Abdullahi said, “Around 17:50, that is 5:50pm yesterday, gunmen invaded the village on bike and killed a farmer and three other co-farmers. They injured four others and similarly many of the victims, the injured ones were rushed to the hospital.
“Immediately, we deployed our men to the area, calm has returned and our men are patrolling the whole place. Contrary to what is been circulated on the social media, this is what actually happened,” he explained.
Speaking on the situation on ground, Chairman Interim Management Committee of Igabi Local Government, Jabir Khamis, said about 500 people from the village were displaced and government is taking care of them.
