A political pressure group ln Imo State ,known as ” Imo must be free” has urged out going Governor Rochas Okorocha, to allow the people of the state to chose who will be their governor come 2019.
In an official statement, signed by the group’s spokesperson, Mazi Chibunna Edozie Nnadi and issued in Owerri the state capital, Tuesday, the group told Governor Okorocha to concern himself more with his senatorial ambition instead of fighting to impose his son in- aw, Mr Uche Nwosu on the people as their next governor.
The group reminded Governor Okorocha that there was a limit to which he can use his position as ‘ Governor’ to achieve what he desires in the state, pointing out that the people of the state have already made up their minds to reject his son in-law.
According to the statement, the group believes that Governor Okorocha should follow the path of honour if only he would honorably hand over to the new governor Imo people would by themselves elect.
The statement further urged Governor Okorocha to stop wasting the remaining resources of the state, on efforts to make his son In- aw mount the saddle next year.
It revealed that it took this stand following all the efforts, including court actions put out by Governor Okorocha to actualize his dream.
The group therefore advised the Governor to save his energy for his future outing because according to it, there must be accountability of stewardship at the end of the tenure which comes up in few months time.
According to the group, ” every leader including Governor Okorocha must be made to give account of his stewardship to the people of the state, thanking posterity that the EFCC is still there.
It told Governor Okorocha to be prepared to account for the first bailout fund released to the state by President Mohammadu Buhari which was said to be missing.
Also to be accounted for, the group said, is the 30 per cent illegally deducted from the state workers salaries and the about three years pension owed retired civil servants in the state.
