Government urged to improve on welfare of Nurses and Midwives, NWCON

Government at both Federal, States and Local levels have been told to be more responsive and focus on improving the welfare of the Nurses and Midwives for a better health care delivery in the Country.
This was disclosed at a opening ceremony of a week-long workshop organized by the Nurses and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCON) in collaboration with Plateau State Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme for Nurses.
State Chairman of Nurses and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Mr Danladi Sambo said the essence of the workshop is to facilitate the professional conduct of Nurses and Midwives to ascertain that after been qualified through school certification, they are certified to practice and ensure it is done through a certified license.
He said the  workshop is usually organized in every three years where all registered members normally come together to promote the activities of their members
According to him,“ the body has ensured that fake Nurses and Midwives are not allowed to practice as measures have been introduced to stem out their activities
“It is expected that at the end of this workshop members will be better positioned to carry out their assignment and build on the existing atmosphere provided by the government to work”.
He implored government to provide better welfare package, as this are people charged with the responsibility of saving lives.
Guest speaker at the occasion, Mrs ladi Desha, said “as a Nurse it is important to collaborate with your colleagues in the primary health care centers to be knowledgeable on what is happening to a Patience”.
She said the role of the community Midwife in community based services include providing antenatal care, conduct home delivery, gives health education and prepare for birth and parenthood in the home, clinics and school, gives also social and psychological support to pregnant women.
