Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar has described the early arrival of election materials and the large turnout of voters for Saturday’s governorship/state assembly elections as very impressive.
Yari made the commendation shortly after casting his vote at the Garkan Malam Isah Polling Unit no. 012 in Galadima Ward of Talata Mafara local government area of the state.
He said from the reports he received from all parts of the state indicates that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and election materials arrived early in most polling units.
Yari said the governorship/state assembly elections clearly shows that all the hindrances that led to the late commencement of the Presidential/national assembly elections in the state was properly addressed by INEC.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Alhaji Mukthar Shehu Idris who voted in Gusau commended INEC for the improvement in the elections.
Idris also applauded the people for conducting themselves peacefully during the elections.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Alhaji Bello Mohammed Matawalle said he is satisfied by the high turnout of voters in Maradun local government area and the other 13 local government areas of the state.
Matawalle who spoke shortly after voting at the Focal Primary School polling unit in Maradun West Ward, commended INEC for good preparations for the elections
Former governor of Zamfara state, Alhaji Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi said he is impressed by the large turnout of voters and therefore called on the people of the state to remain law abiding for the development of the state.
Shinkafi commended INEC for successful conduct of the elections.
Speaking after casting his vote, the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Dankande Gamji who voted in his poling unit in Gamji village in Bakura local government area commended the the conduct of the election which he said was better organised as election materials were delivered on time and not delayed by INEC.
In most polling units visited in Gusau, Maru, Maradun, Talata Mafara, Bakura, Shinkafi local government areas voters were seen in queues casting their votes peacefully.
Collation of results were yet to begin as at the time of filling this report.
