Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger’s bid for a second term in office was a smooth sail to victory as he got the All Progressives Congress (APC), for next year’s governorship election in the state.
Governor Sani Bello got a seemless victory following a no contest from any aspirant as the only aspirant, Ma’aji was knocked out of the race by the APC’s screening committee.
Party members from the 274 wards of the state had trooped out in their numbers in their wards to endorse the sole aspirant for the party’s flag.
Governor Sani Bello had last weekend scaled the screening exercise as he was cleared by the national secretariat of the party to become the party’s sole candidate for office of the governor.
Governor Sani Bello was at the Mustapha Comprehensive School, the center for Kontagora Central Ward, Kontagora Local Government area of the state for the governorship primary election.
He expressed appreciation to party members for reposing confidence in him by returning him unopposed.
“It is very comforting when your people have confidence in you, when they support you, when they overwhelmingly endorse you. In politics, this is what you need and I really appreciate their gesture”.
He said he was humbled by their action which according to him had propelled him to do more in the years to come.
He assured that by next year, his administration will continue with its good works for the people of the state.
The visibly elated governor assured party faithful and citizens of the state of his resolve to be more committed to the actualization of the restoration agenda of his administration.
Governor Sani Bello however acknowledged that though the past three and half years have been tough, there were indices for brighter future.
”We may not have been able you cover all sectors in these past three years, but for the years ahead, we are determined to cover more grounds and ensure full actualisation of our set goals”.
Lawal Abdullahi Madsngen, the returning officer for the primary election, had disclosed that Sani Bello had pulled 1,198 votes out 1,354 accredited votes cast.
