Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has commissioned a state of the art one-stop security response call centre.
The centre is the first of it’s type in the entire northern parts of the country.
It is fully equipped with communication gadgets linked with network connections to coordinate and respond to any security threats or outbreak from any parts of the state.
Speaking at the event, Governor Bello said the creation of the centre was in furtherance to the concerted efforts being made to ensure quick response to security challenges and to ensure that citizens in all parts of the state were well secured.
He assured that his administration will stop at nothing to secure the lives and properties of law abiding citizens across the state.
He expressed worry that crime and criminality had become more sophisticated as criminals become daring and heartless.
Governor Bello attributed the sad development to the proliferation of light and small weapons which he noted were now commonly found in the hands of even illiterate persons who are neither trained nor licensed on handling and use of firearms.
The situation according to Governor Bello requires a more proactive approach to curb  the growing threats to lives of defenceless citizens.
He said the sad situation calls for government and security agencies to think fast and ahead of men of the underworld and deploy relevant technologies  to match the effrontery by dare devil men with inordinate ambitions and taste.
“This facility is a 24/7 one-stop security response call centre which would be manned by personnel from all the security agencies in the state and will be responsible for managing and co-ordinating all the distress calls to redirect them to the nearest security outpost for necessary action” he said.
Governor Bello expressed optimism that the new facility would tremendously enhance coordination in the activities and onslaughts against crime and criminalities in the state.
Governor Bello  explained that as part of his administration’s commitment to ensuring security of lives and properties of all citizens in the state, the state government had procured and distributed ninety Hillux vehicles to support the logistic operations of security agencies particularly for easy movement of the security personnel including vigilante in the state.
He disclosed also that 170 motor cycles and 30 bicycles were bought and distributed to locals for easy access to nooks and crannies by those engaged as security personnel or providing auxiliary security services in parts of the state.
Governor Bello noted that security agencies require the support and cooperation of all citizens even as he stressed that criminals were not spirit and since they live amongst us, citizens need to expose them.
He therefore called on citizens to support security agencies by reporting any suspicious character or group of persons whose activities are not in tanderm with accepted rules and norms.
