Gov Ishaku Inaugurates Maternity Ward, Water Projects Donated By Taraba Speaker

Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State
Gov Darius Ishaku of Taraba on Saturday inaugurated the 80 years old maternity ward of the General Hospital Warwar, on the Mambilla Plateau, renovated by Mr Abel Diah, the Speaker of Taraba Assembly.
The renovated maternity ward which was built in 1938 by the missionaries was inaugurated by the governor along side Spring Water projects in Ndarup and Mbamga communities also executed by the Speaker for the Mbamga constituency which he represents at the Taraba assembly.
Ishaku commended Diah for executing projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the constituency.
He also promised to soon embark on the renovation of the entire hospital which the government took over from the missionaries in 1974 for effective health care delivery.
“I wish we have more members of the Taraba Assembly that will key into the rescue mission of my administration by massively executing projects like Abel Diah.
“The state government will take over the projects as requested by the Speaker and maintain them for effective services for the well being of the people of Mbamga Constituency.
Reports say that Ishaku announced the donation of an ambulance and incubating machine to the hospital as well as engagement of six additional nurses for effective healthcare delivery.
Earlier, the Speaker explained that his childhood experiences in the remote community prompted him to renovate the missionary hospital which in those days, serviced Nigerians and their neighbouring Cameroonians.
Diah thanked God for giving him the opportunity to renovate the maternity ward where he was given birth to many years ago.
He thanked Gov Ishaku for  personally visiting the constituency to inaugurate and take over the projects despite the difficult terrain.
Diah explained since the return of democracy, no governor had visited the constituency due to the nature of the terrain.
The Speaker noted that the Inauguration of the two spring water projects marked the end of water scarcity in the constituency as all the 10 major communities had earlier benefitted from his intervention.
Residents of the constituency trooped out in thousands to witness the Inauguration and handing over of the projects to state ministries of health and that of water resources respectively.
