Gov. Ganduje to grace Ramat Cup finals

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje  of Kano State  will be the special guest of honour at the finals of the 2016 YSFON U-16 Ramat Cup competition expected to be rounded up today at Kano Pillars Stadium.
The National President of YSFON, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna  hinted that the Governor who will be accompanied by his deputy and other members of his executive, will officially declare the tournament close even as he announced that it will be the first time in the history of the championship that a state Governor will be physically present in the closing ceremony of the tournament.
Gawuna who also doubles as Kano State Commissioner of Agriculture stated that the presence of the Governor will spur the Federation to do more in its desire to develop grassroots football in the country.
“The Governor has given us his words that he will be present to declare the championship close and as a sports loving Governor, we are eagerly awaiting his visit which will challenge us to do more for the development of grassroots football in the country” he stressed.
The YSFON boss while commending Kano State Government for its consistency in organizing the championship, praised the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by the various teams throughout the duration of the competition.
Meanwhile, in the finals to be decided today, Kaduna will meet Katsina State to decide who emerges the champion of the competition organized to immortalize the late Head of State, General Murtala Ramat Mohammed.
To get to the finals, Kaduna defeated Bauchi by 5-2 on penalties in the first semi- final match after their game ended 1-1 at regulation time, while Katsina recorded a 2-1 victory over Lagos in the second semi- final match to qualify for the finals. A total of 14 states took part in the week- long championship.
