A Non-Governmental organization (NGO), Divine Motivation for Positive Impact Initiative (DMPII), based in Ekiti state is to partner with stakeholders in the state to train about 500 Nigerian youths on good leadership.
The President of DMPII, Mr. Gbenga Emiloju disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.
He listed the stakeholders to include the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), religious institutions, schools and other Civic Organisations to train the nation’s youths on good leadership.
“Our NGO, which is borne of the desire to positively impact on Nigerian youths will train no few than 500 youths across the country in November.
“In the face of the current social, political and economic situation in the country, our youths needed to be taught on how to take their destiny in their own hands.
“The 2016 Positive Impact Summit, (PIS) will imbibe in the nation’s youths, the ways to take up leadership challenge that will see the country reclaiming her lost glory.
“Our youths must be aware that Leadership has nothing to do with age or holding political office; one can demonstrate leadership by impacting on his or her immediate community.
“Maybe if our youths are aware of their leadership roles before now, Nigeria may not be in the current economic downtrodden,” Emiloju said.
The founder and president of the NGO also said that 10 vulnerable students in higher institutions would be benefiting from their “Money for Educational Support” programme.
He explained that, though the money for educational support is not a full scholarship, but a token that would assist the less privileged in the society.
He said that the less privilege to benefit, are those that are academically sound but have no money to finance their educational bills.
The leadership training with the theme,”Raising Godly Leaders”is scheduled to hold on Nov. 5 and will have at least five Corp members each from the 36 states of the federation.
Other participants, he said are to be drawn from Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD),Ekiti State University,(EKSU), Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti and other institutions in the state.
