National Chairman of the National Action Council (NAC), Dr Olapade Agoro on Sunday declared that there should be no reason for President Muhammadu Buhari to stay in this office beyond 2019, if God allows him to finish his first term.
Dr Agoro stated this in a message he issued in reaction to the last Friday’s visit and endorsement of President Buhari for second term by seven Northern governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The NAC leader maintained that President Buhari should forget about the issue of second term in office or recontesting the 2019 Presidential election if not that some of his close aides are not sincere with him.
Dr Agoro said it was glaring now that “President Muhammadu Buhari is surrounded by people who do not mean well for Nigeria and the President himself.”
According to the NAC National Chairman President Buhari ” is too weak and fragile for Nigerian politics,’ hence, there is no reason for him to stay in this office beyond 2019, if God allows him to finish his first term.’
He stressed that it was unfortunate that instead of assisting President Buhari to find solutions to the problems of economic hardship and insecurity militating against the Nigerians, the APC governors were busy persuading the president to go for the second term because of their own selfish interests.
Dr Agoro while describing the President Buhari led APC government as “a carry over of failure” disclosed that he will be coming out in 2019 to offer himself as the country’s “redemption ship”,
Agoro maintained that Buhari should be allowed to go home to take care of his health and family after his tenure, asking ” what has the President done with the mandate and support given to him by Nigerians?”
Speaking further on the 2019 general elections, the NAC’s National Chairman suggested that politicians facing trial in corruption cases should not be allowed in contest in the polls.
He added that Nigeria needed a change of direction, and that only credible politicians like himself can bring about the positive change that will take the country to her promised land.
His words: “I am the best material available now. We tried PDP for 16 years and it was failure, we are all witnessing the woeful performance of the incumbent APC. I am coming out in 2019 as the redemption ship of our dear country.”
