The new Commandant, Depot Nigerian Army Zaria, Brigadier General Sani Mohammed has assumed duty as the Commandant Chindit Cantonment after taking over from Major General Victor Okwudili Ezugwu.
Until his appointment, Brig. General Sani Mohammed was the acting Director manpower planning (Army).
A member of the 38 regular course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna, a seasoned and professional infantry officer with Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science and Masters in Defence Studies, Mirpur Dhake, Bangladesh .
Brigadier General Mohammed has served in several Nigerian Army units and formations where he held appointments within his rank.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the outgoing Commandant, Major General Victor Okwudili Ezugwu said, he would do his best in improving the welfare, standard and infrastructure within the cantonment.
Some of his modest achievements in Depot NA include improvement of peace in Zaria and its environs, lighting the nooks and crannies of Chindit Cantonment with solar powered street lights.
In order to tackle the accommodation hiccups confronting the personal of Depot NA, he remodeled already abandoned dilapidated building, SNCO blocks and transformed them to a befitting transit camp for SNCOS of Depot N.A
The outgoing Commandant also expressed concerns over the infrastructural development when he assumed duty.
He provided additional water point in the barracks and renovated some living quarters and offices.
General Ezugwu expressed appreciation to the Emir of Zazzau, Alh.Shehu Idris for his fatherly advice which he always rendered to him, whenever he approached him on any issues.
He also commended the host community for their hospitality and peace which always becomes memorable to him as he enjoyed his stay.
General Ezugwu said he has promoted research and encouraged reading culture among the recruits and the entire Buffalo family.
He pioneered the construction of a multimedia library in the institution and the reconstruction of Depot Nigerian Army quarter guard.
Gen. Ezugwu’s generosity is not limited to the Barracks it also goes beyond which the host community also benefited.
