Fuel: DPR sanction 93 filling stations in Oyo and Osun

The Department of Petroleum Resources, (DPR) Oyo and Osun field office has sealed 43 filling station and sanctioned 50 others for hoarding fuel and for selling a litre above N87.
New Nigerian gathered that two of the affected filing stations belonged to a former governor of the state and a onetime Senator from the state.
The DPR officials stormed some parts of Oyo State to restore sanity as a litre of petrol now sells for between N130 and N150 amidst long queue of both commercial and private vehicle across major towns and cities in the two states.
At Ogbomosho and some parts of Ibadan no fewer than 50 filling stations including the one belonging to a former senator were caught selling above the government approved prices to members of the public.
Also, another filling station belonging to a former governor from Ogbomosho, which was sealed few weeks back was again compelled to reverse its sales to government approved price during the inspection
Prominent among the filling stations affected by the DPR sanction included TDB global venture limited, Modern Options, Isale General, Ballah Plus, Sabo, Rubbie oil, stadium road, Musalat Intergrated Resources Nigeria limited and Saajad Resourses Nigeria limited (all in Ogbomoso). Prolek Molete for selling at N130 per litre and not willing to reverse sales, Alleluyah Oil, Idi-Arere, allegedly owned by a former Senator in the state, for selling at N140 per litre and Oando, Oritamefa for hoarding the product

The DPR Operations Controller, Oyo and Osun Field office Engineer Olakunle Ogunlana,while speaking through the DPR deputy manager (operations) Mr. Sadiq Ibrahim, said moves by the DPR “is to cushion the pains the marketers are subjecting members of the public to for pecuniary gains
“It is unfair how some few people unduly take advantage of millions of other people just to make selfish gains. This scarcity is making things difficult for members of the public despite government intervention. We will not rest until we ensure that they (independent marketers) do what is right in the interest of Nigerians. We will not allow them rubbish government efforts”
He then urged the marketers to show patriotism in discharging and running their business interest as government is doing enough to make the product available across the country.
