Four of the councillors in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State on Tuesday suspended from office, the elected Chairman of the Council and son of a former governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala.
Also, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state announced immediate suspension of Mr. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala from the party despite that he publicly dumped APC last week and joined his father in the Action Democratic Party (ADP).
Though the four Councillors in a letter dated Friday February 15th 2019 and signed by the four councillors, claimed that the Chairman’s suspension was as a result of alleged misconduct.it was gathered that Olamijuwonlo’s suspension from office by the APC councillors might not be unconnected with his defection to the Action Democratic Party last week
The four councillors that signed the letter suspending Alao-Akala included Hon. Adebowale Oladunmoni (Deputy Leader), Hon. Zakariyau Ayinde Kabiru, Hon. Adisa Raheem Kingsley and Hon. Busari Lamidi Adesina.
In the letter copied the office of the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, in Oyo state, Mr. Bimbo Kolade, the Councillors stated , “Take notice that we the undersigned councillors in Ogbomoso Local Government Area hereby passed a resolution suspending you from the office as the executive chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government for your gross misconduct”.
Concerning the suspension from APC, the Oyo state Publicity Secretary , Dr. Abdulazeez Olatunde, while confirming the suspension of Olamijuwonjo from the APC declared that the party took right decision by suspending Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala for dumping APC to join his father at the ADP.
“Yes, we have suspended him. He crossed from the party and went to ADP. What do you want us to do? He said, “Yes, they have to do that. Don’t they impeached Ladoja? Was he not impeached? Was he not elected? The councillors are the ones like the house of Assembly in the state”.
The APC Publicity Secretary praised the councillors for taking what he called the right decision by suspending Alao-Akala.
