The Police in its continuous onslaughts against rising tide of criminality in Niger State, have arrested five armed robbery and ritualists suspects and rescued two kidnapped victims from captivity.
The Police in the state said the suspects were nabbed along with two magazines loaded with forty rounds of live ammunition, one AK47 riffle, one Toyota Camry car, two motorcycles and other sundry items.
The suspects according to the Police were rounded up from different parts of the state during sting operations by men of the state Special Anti Robbery Squad.
The Police said an armed gang of suspected ritualists were accosted by the Police along Lambata on board a Camry car.
The occupants of the Camry car had on sighting the Police on patrol, opened fire on them resulting in gun battle and a hot chase by the Police where one of the suspects, simply identified as Samuel was shot on his leg while the other occupants of the car escaped into the bush.
As the Police pursued the hoodlums, they abandoned their get away car and scampered into the bushes in different directions while the wounded suspect was arrested.
Upon careful search, the Police team discovered a fresh human skull hidden in the compartment of the car.
Investigations by the Police confirmed that the suspects had snatched the Camry car from the deceased along Keffi – Nassarawa road, killed him and severed his head and dumped the rest of his remains in a bush somewhere in Nasarawa state.
After carting away the victim’s car, the hoodlums drove away from the scene and were on their way with their booty when they ran into the Police along Lambata – Suleja road.
Investigations by the Police later confirmed that the victim and owner of the Camry car was one Mohammed Saba of Taragi village of Suleja area of Niger state.
The suspects according to the Police would be charged to court on armed robbery, culpable homicide, and theft.
