Fire breaks out in part of Ondo State governor’s office as Mimiko set to receive Sherif

There was fire outbreak at the Office of Ondo State Governor,  Dr. Olusegunn Mimiko few minutes after the arrival of the National Chairman of People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), Alhaji Ali Modu Sherif.
The fire which started at the Exco Chambers wing of the Governor’s office was attributed to what the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade said was due to ”power surge”.
The fire which lasted for about 30 minutes was later put under control by the men of the state fire services while workers in the Governor’s office and those in the adjacent offices scamppered for safety in different directions.
Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Works, Engr. Gboye Adegbenro described the incident as an accident which no one could ever expect.
He described the fire as minor incidence since his men in the Fire Department were able to put it out within record time.
Speaking with Journalists later, the National Chairman of PDP, said he decided to commence his nation wide tour to Governors offices with the Chairman of PDP Governor’s Forum, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.
While enumerating the achievements of the party in bye elections in some states since he assumed office as the Acting Chairman, he assured that the party is now putting her structure in place to retain her lost glory.
He remarked that members are now ready to forget their differences and work for the success of the party at all levels towards 2019 general elections.
He said the two Senatorial re run elections in Rivers state will be a testimony to the fact that people are anxiously waiting to vote PDP back to power in coming elections.
While responding, Dr. Mimiko commended the National Chairman for his ability to have made tremendous achievements within few months in office.
He also assured that the party leadership has started to put necessary machineries in place to restructure the party as soon as possible to reclaim its glory in Ondo State in 2017 and at the national level in 2019.
The Governor, who was about to receive his visitor at the Governor’s office had to relocate to the Presidential lodge at the Government House due to the fire outbreak.
