The chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Council, Engineer Bashir Abdullahi Kutama has said that Kano local government councils are treated well despite the lack of existence of full autonomy.
He stated this in an interview with New Nigerian in Kano, adding that Ganduje’s administration has proven that even without autonomy, local councils can execute some projects that are of importance to the people because they receive good backing, support and helping hands from the governor as witnessed every month.
Engineer Bashir Kutama disclosed that local councils are the closest tier of government that an ordinary citizen can go and see the executives on an issue, that is why the governor is making excellent efforts in support of all the local councils in Kano State despite the absence of full autonomy.
The executive chairman gave many examples of what Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is doing in Gwarzo Local Government Area, which include the ultra-modern drainage that gulped huge amount of money in Gwarzo town, multi-milion Naira water supply projects in different locations in Gwarzo Local Government Area, which are very important gestures for the entire people of the area as seen on ground.
Engineer Kutama stressed that construction of modern market at Bakin Asibiti in Gwarzo town has also reached a satisfactory state with the support of the state government in order to boost the economy of the people through commercial activities and for the provision of employment opportunities that aid self-reliance.
In conclusion, the chair!an thanked the Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for considering local councils and commended the state’s Commissioner for Local Government, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo and his lieutenants for putting the local government area on a solid foundation for the progress of Kano State at both rural and urban areas.
