FG Committee On Herdsmen/Farmers Clash Begins Sitting in Adamawa

Following the emerging conflict between farmers and herdsmen that has engulfed the nation, the National Economic Council (NEC) sub committee set up by the Federal Government has begun sitting in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi who declared the sitting open on Wednesday, stated that they are on a fact finding mission in the state.
According to him, the committee was in the state to find out the remote causes of the conflict and to proffer solutions.
“We are here as part of the facts finding mission and to ascertain the remote cause of the crisis between farmers and herdsmen in the state”Umahi stated.
He maintained that the committee is not a criminal or civil trial body but an organ to bring lasting solution between the two conflict parties.
Earlier, in his remarks, Governor Muhammadu Umar Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa lauded the Federal Government for the establishment of the committee.
Bindow, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Martins Babale, said his administration was committed towards the protection of lives and property of the citizens.
“Government of Adamawa is committed to the protection of lives and property of its citizens, as part of its efforts to ensure peaceful coexistence among the people, the government has started massive integration and sensitisation campaign among people of the state,’’Babale stated.
