Chief Audu Ogbeh

The Director, Federal Department of Agricultural Extension, Dr. Karima Babangida has said, the partnership with the SG2000 is aimed at mobilization for smallholder farmers extension delivery and market oriented agriculture being synergized by this effort.
She made this known at the annual National Stakeholders Review and Planning Workshop held at NAERLS/ABU Zaria.
Dr . Karima Babangida said, their cooperation in 2013 was to jointly develop effective extension models that will assist in building capacities of both extension staff, farmers and other stakeholders to improve their productivity and livelihood along some selected agricultural commodity value chains through the use of appropriate technologies.
According to her, the cooperation and collaboration has stood the test of time, through the value it has added to extension delivery in Nigeria.
The Director also said the ministry has intensified efforts as it has strengthened the implementation of the agricultural promotion policy to achieve self sufficient and sustainable food security, reduce loss at harvest, climate waste of food, value addition during processing and packing of farmers produce to enhance its market value locally while intensifying efforts to meet standards for export of some of the produce.
“With this development, it has led to 4.1% growth in the nation’s economy taking it out of recession which has contributed to the recovery of the economy,” she pointed out.
Dr. Karima said the Ministry has set aside some funds to upscale the programme to six more states.
She therefore,  charged the states ADPs to rise up to this gesture.
