FCE Zaria Appoints Former NNN Editor Chief Public Relations Officer

A Former Editor of New Nigerian Newspaper, Malam Bala Mohammed has been appointed Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of FCE Zaria with immediate effect.

A 1984 Graduate of Mass Communication from Bayero University Kano (BUK), Mal. Mohammed came into the office with journalism experience spanning over 30 years, rising to the top echelon and having membership of three professional bodies.

According to the College Weekly News Bulletin, the appointment is contained in a letter dated March 20, 2017 signed by the Registrar, Dr. Jibril Lawal.

Until his appointment, he was Chairman of the College Weekly and Quarterly Bulletin Committee having secured employment on contract in late 2015. Born in Zaria, Mohammed attended LEA Primary School, Sabon Gari, Government Craft School (Now Government Secondary Technical College), Mashi, Katsina State and Government Technical College, Kaduna. He privately studied for GCE ‘O’ level and subsequently gained admission into Bayero University Kano(BUK), in 1981 and graduated with Bachelor of Arts (B.A) Degree in mass communication in1984.

He joined the service of New Nigerian Newspapers (NNN), in August, 1985 as a reporter and rose through the ranks to the position of Editor. He was at various times News Editor, Associate Editor News,  Bureau   Chief Sokoto, Deputy Editor, Member of the Editorial Board and Editor of the Sunday of later Daily Edition of New Nigerian.

He is a member of Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations(NIPR).

Similarly, Malam Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim was appointed Assistant College Public Relations Officer (ACPRO), also with immediate effect. Ibrahim was former General Manager of Nigerian Television Authority, (NTA), Zaria Station with a vast experience in editing and production.

He has also been on the College Weekly and Quarterly Bulletin Committee following employment at the college on contract in 2015.

Born in Kaduna in 1958, Kabir attended primary school in Kaduna and Government Secondary School (GSS), Zaria. He proceeded to London International School to study Films, Arts and Drama from 1981-1984.

  1. He joined the service of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Kaduna as Assistant Producer and rose to Producer over a long period of professional service, after which he subsequently got posted to Zaria NTA Station as the General Manager. He retired in 2012.
