The Marternal and New Born Child Health (MNCH2), a component of the Department of International Development, DFID, Gusau field office in Zamfara state has been given a pass mark for procurement of essential drugs to 84 Health facicilities selected by MNCH2 programme in the state for free antenatal care, maternal and new born child healthcare delivery services to less privileged.
The commendation was made by the Incharge of phamarcy of Jangebe Primary health center, in Talata Mafara local government area of the state, Mal. Lawal Muhammad Jangebe in an interview with Blueprint during a quarterlly integrated general supervission by the MNCH2 officials in collaboration with the state ministry of health to 84 selected health facilities in Jangebe town on Tuesday.
According to him, the commendation was imperative considering the procurement of adequate drugs to the 84 selected zamfara health facilities free of charge for destribution to poor pregnant women, as part of the organization effort to partner with the state govt in addressing marternal and child mortality.
According to him, the MNCH2 has selected five PHC and one General hospital in each local government area of the state under the programme. Stressing that, under the program, each PHC benefited with two modern beds, dustbin containers for effective antenatal care delivery services to pregnant women and nursing mothers in the state.
He said some of the challenges some Primary Health Centres were facing in the state includes, inadequate man power and therefore called on the state government to employ more health personnel to be posted to all the PHCs in the state.
