Former Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Peter Umeadi on Wednesday, declared his decision to join partisan politics after retiring from active service as the Chief Judge of Anambra State.
Making the declaration in his ward, (Nri ward 2) at Agukwu nri in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state with the ward chairmsn and orher party faithful present, he said that he was joining the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) so as to assist the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano in moving the state forward.Since he assumed office.
He added, the governor has done  well since he came into powe, at least, ha has not failed in paying salary to civil servants in the state

Recall that the ex-CJ few days ago handed over to a new CJ, Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu, following his voluntary retirement from active service.
Umeadi explained that he chose APGA after careful scrutiny of all the political parties in Nigeria adding that joining partisan politics would also enable him contribute his ‘widow’s mite’ to the growth of APGA as a political party.
He however regretted the marginalisation of the Igbos in the country despite the role they have played in the growth and development of the country.
According to him, the only solution to the stalemate is for the nationto accept an Igbo to become President for eight years.
He said, “It should be our collective resolve that an Igbo man must be president for two tenures of four years. Whoever it would be should be selected by a process.”
“The igbos have invested a lot in the uplifting of Nigeria. This is our country and we must join hands to develop it.”
Umeadi further described as dangerous idling away after active service, noting that he had lot to offer in terms of knowledge and experience.
He urged people not to go to sleep after retiring from active service saying, “Retirement shouldn’t put you to sleep, otherwise your brain will go to sleep.”
The former CJ pledged his allegiance to the party leadership at the ward, state and national levels.
“I will subordinate myself to the ward chairman in Nri ward 2. I win join the locals in contributing my own quota towards achieving success of the party,” he stated.
