Newly admitted 8, 000 students of the Abubakar Tatar Ali Polytechnic (ATAP) have been admonished to shun all forms of social vices and focus on their academic pursuit to enable them excel in their various course of studies.
The Rector of the Institution, Dr. Sulaiman Mohammed Lame gave the charge Friday at the 2018 matriculation ceremony organized by the school to usher-in the newly admitted students into the institution held at the school premises in Bauchi.
Dr. Lame who thanked the state government under Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar for providing the institution with enabling environment said, “you should all be mindful that that the present administration is putting a lot of resources for the provision of both economic and social infrastructures to make teaching and learning in a conducive environment”.
The Rector while urging the students to justify the huge resources invested in the school by the state government assured them that all the necessary working facilities including adequate highly qualified staff to inject in them the required knowledge have been provided.
Lame, who reminded the students that by taking oath of allegiance all of them are expected to abide and respect all the rules and regulations governing the conduct of academic and non-academic endeavors in the institution
“You will agree with me that the importance of receiving formal education is not just to acquire degree but to equip every one of you to be a useful member of any society you find yourselves in”, rector said.
The Registrar of the polytechnic, Malam Idris Shehu has earlier called on all students to ensure they maintain law and order, protect the facilities in the school and report any criminal activities to the management of the institution for necessary action.
He also enjoined them to abstain from societal ills such as cultism, sexual misbehavior, indecent dressing, exam malpractice, thuggery and many other nefarious acts that can mar their future.
