Empowerment: National Assembly Member Equips 200 Youths With ICT In Kaduna

Federal House of Representative member representing Kajuru/Chikun Federal constituency, Hon. Yakubu Umar Barde has empowered 200 youths from his constituency with Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills.
The benefiting youths carefully selected from various sectors who will be trained in desktop publishing and website design will also be going home at the end of their training with a brand new samsung computers.
Speaking on the project, the sponsor, Hon. Barde who is the minority ‎whip said, he felt giving knowledge will be a better source of empowerment rather than distributing motorcycles which he said most times become a liability on the beneficiaries.
“This is a generational empowerment, because with the knowledge you will acquire during this training and personal computer at your disposal, you can also become employer of labour and be self reliant.
“The world which is a global village has now gone digital, so you are being empowered to equally empower others at your own levels‎, so put in your best during the training and please don’t sell the computers” he urged the beneficiaries.
“The training and the free computers will be costing about forty million naira (N40,000,000), I have also sent 2 persons to the Nigeria film college Jos where they will be studying cinematography because knowledge is the best thing that can  be bequetted on any generation.
“We are training 40 youths in Kajuru LGA and 60 in Chikun LGA in the first phase while the second phase which is in few months time will have 60 youths from Kajuru while Chikun will have 40.
“We have selected the beneficiaries from Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Jamatu Nasir Islam (JNI), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and from each wards in the two local government areas”.
He disclosed that the award of contract for the construction of 2 blocks of classrooms in each of the wards ‎in Kajuru local government has already been awarded while 8 solar boreholes has equally been constructed in the local government.
In the same vein, he said 12 solar boreholes has also been constructed in Chikun local government area. Adding that he intends to empower more people from his constituency
Speaking on the Honourable’s gesture, former Chairman of Kajuru local government Hon. Abdulrasheed Yaron Kirki described the gesture as worthy of commendation.
He charged the benefiting youths to take advantage of the opportunity to better their lives, their families and the society.
