Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has reiterated the desire of his adminstration to exploit all options to end herdsmen killings in Ondo State.

While  advising the herdsmen fomenting trouble in the state, he warned them  to either embrace peace or face the wrath of his government.

Akeredolu sounded the note of warning at the 2018 Armed Forces and Remembrance day celebration held at St David’s Cathedral Anglican Church in Akure.

He said, government would not hesitate to use force to checkmate the nefarious activities of the herdsmen if caution fails.

“We have been using security agencies to engage the herdsmen to carry out their business peacefully, but when engagement fails, we will use force; we will confront the herdsmen with all we have,” Akeredolu said

He condemned the repeated attacks on the farm of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, by some herdsmen adding that his Government would not allow criminal activities in the State.

Akeredolu also commended the military for its strides in confronting the present security challenges facing the country.

He said his administration will always give due  attention to the military as they have honoured the state and country at large in their quest for peace

“We want to appreciate our fallen heroes because they are the reason we are here. They fought for the unity of the country and they deserve our respect and commendation”, he said.

The Governor also praised the security forces for their roles in the success of the Amnesty Programme in the riverine area of the state.

The state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development,  Hon.  Omowunmi Olatunji-Edet said the military deserve maximum support from members of society in view of their  enormous  roles in the quest for societal peace.

In his sermon,  Canon in Residence,  St David’s cathedral,  Revd. Canon Adewumi Adeyemi urged Nigerians to always pray for the fallen and living heroes.
