A total of 2237 corps members of Batch “A” comprising of 1124 males and 113 females that were enlisted for the induction programme in kaduna state were sworn in at the National youth service corps (NYSC) orientation camp.
Addressing the corps members after the swearing in ceremony kaduna state Governor, Mallam EL- Rufai advised them to imbibe the spirit of cooperation, team work, tolerance and mutual understanding among youths from diverse social- cultural background that make up our dear nation Nigeria adding that the orientation course provide a veritable environment for their introduction to the cherished values of national integration, unity and nation building and it is also designed to inculcate in them the spirit of discipline, leadership and self-reliance expected of future leaders.
The Governor, who spoke through the commissioner of sports, youth and culture kaduna state, Honorable Daniel Dan Auta appealed to the corps members to contribute to the growth of agriculture, rural infrastructural development health care delivery, education among others, saying that these are the areas of critical needs to national development and their services in any of these sectors will surely bring the much needed desired transformation and development to the state.
‘’On our part as government, I want to assure you that your security, General welfare and being one of utmost priority to us, we will continue to provide conducive working environment for NYSC in Kaduna state to excel in the implementation of the objectives of the scheme’’ he said.
He said that kaduna state is prepared and put in place adequate measures to make their stay worth-while and memorable and that the state has a lot to enhance their self-development, pointing out that the commercial and economic potentials of the state provide favorable grounds for youth that want to excel in every area of their endeavor.
He however, appealed to all stakeholders and corps employers to pay necessary attention to the welfare of these patriotic corps members and render to them necessary support and encouragement throughout their service year, warning that rejection of NYSC members posted to employers is unacceptable to the state governement.
Earlier, the coordinator, NYSC, Kaduna state, Dahunsi Mohammed Commended the Kaduna State government for the support extended to the scheme, particularly the first phase of the renovation work at the camp which made it more conducive for the orientation course.
‘’We hope the second phase of the renovation work which is expected to take care of parade ground pavilion, existing male hostels and apartment for camp officials will commence as soon as possible. We are equally hopeful that the provision of more hostels blocks for both corps members and camp officials will be given due attention by the administration as promised’’ he said.
