As the race to the Ekiti state Gubernatorial poll slated for July 14,this year hots up,Governor Ayodele Fayose ,on Thursday pledged that there would be an open governorship primaries for all contestants on the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) platform in the state.
Although,Fayose specifically stated that he would as well support either his Deputy,Prof. Kolapo Olusola and the former Minister of Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye if any of them emerged flagbearer in the party’s primaries.

The primary is tentatively slated for April 29, 2018 by the party.
The governor begged Ekiti women to collect their Permanent Voter
Cards (PVCs) to make his continuity agenda realizable.
Fayose, who said women’s supports for his administration have led to
the sustenance of his government, assured that he would continue to
effect policies that would better their lives and future.
The governor maintained that nothing would make him waver on his support for his Deputy to succeed him in the July 14 poll, assuring other contestants that he would ensure level-playing ground in the primary.
“In the spirit of understanding we had with Senator David Mark-led
reconciliation committee, knowing that we have more than one
aspirant,I will ensure a level-playing ground.
“I have pitched my tent with Prof. Olusola and I stand with him, today
and tomorrow . We are going to give everybody the right of primary”.
Speaking at the 2018 edition of the Women’s Day,Fayose said: “I visited INEC recently and I told it not to come to Ekiti to rig for me,I don’t need them. They should not also come to Ekiti and rig election for APC.
“The 2019 is very crucial and the 2018 elections in Ekiti and Osun
will be acid tests . I am appealing to INEC, police and other security
agencies to be transparent.
“I want to use this opportunity to tell the international community
that I am a one-man army opposition to APC in Nigeria and what they want to do is to rig election here in Ekiti but we shall resist them”,he said.
Fayose said his government has been fair to women in terms of
appointments , saying he had successfully distributed N200 million empowerment to women across the state.
“I will not even stop at that , I will add another N100m meaning that
N20,000 will be given to 5,000 people within the next two months”, he said.
The Governor’s wife,Feyisetan, described women as the pivots of
democracy, saying their support for Fayose will make the continuity
agenda comes to fruition.
“Women are resolute voters, they used to vote on the day of election.
I know you love my husband and if you collect your PVCs and support
him the more, it will make the continuity agenda a reality”.
In her speech, a human rights and gender activist, Dr. Joe
Okei-Odumakin,said the women have been so much sidelined at the
federal level , revealing that only seven are in the Senate out of 109
members.
“I want to say governor Fayose is women-friendly. He appointed a woman as SSG,Commissioner for Works and others. He has done well for women and he deserves applause”, she said.
