The Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin has called on traditional rulers in the state to embark on public enlightenment of their people in order to tackle the problem of human trafficking in the society.
Oba Ewuare II who made the call at the inaugural meeting of the reconstituted Edo State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs held  at the Oba’s Palace, Benin City, told the traditional rulers to educate their people on the dangers inherent in human trafficking.
The Oba of Benin who is permanent Chairman of the Council called on parents to discourage their children from embarking on illegal migration and prevent them from being trafficked.
The Oba of Benin urged youths to channel their energies toward meaningful ventures like agriculture, skills acquisition and trade, rather than embarking on illegal migration and self-embrace slavery.
The Benin Monarch also stressed the need for traditional rulers to join forces with government to tackle insecurity in the land, pointing out that insecurity would scare away investors from Edo State.
His Royal Majesty commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for his efforts at ensuring peace and security, and for attracting investors to the state.

The Omo N’Oba reminded them that the responsibilities bestowed on them were enormous, and sued for peace and one accord among traditional rulers.
