Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has disclosed that his administration would in the next one week sign its first Power Purchase Agreement  (PPA) to ensure 24/7 electricity supply in some parts of the state.
Obaseki disclosed this while addressing participants at the on-going Technical and Vocational Education Workshop organised by the state government in Benin City.
According to him, following the strategic dialogue meeting we held in the state two months ago and the provisions in our 2017 budget, Edo is attracting several investor in sectors like agribusiness, power, manufacturing, transportation and services.
“We will be signing our first PPA with a Power generating company in a week’ time, which means that within the next three months we will have constant electricity in some part of Benin City’’, he said.
Speaking on the essence of the technical and vocation workshop, he stated that youth in the state needed to be equipped with the right skills to take advantage of the emerging opportunities in the industrialization plans of his government.
He, therefore, urged the experts to brainstorm and come up with ideas that will help revamp technical and vocational education in the state.
