Edo State House of Assembly has amended the Law setting up the College of Education, Ekiadolor, and a provision made for Tayo Akpata University of Education, Ekiadolor as the new name of the institution.
The amendment was sequel to a request to that effect by the state government through the Ministry of Justice.
Parliament in the committee of the whole went through necessary clauses and sections in the executive bill which included sections that created the institute of Physical Education, Afuze as a campus to the Tayo Akpata University of Education, Ekiadolor.
While considering the Bill, the House in an application through the Majority Leader, Hon. Foly Ogedengbe, suspended relevant extant rules to give effect to the exercise.
The House Speaker, Hon. Justin Okonoboh, affirmed the support of Members on the decision, its actions on the Bill, and directed the Clerk to accord it its third reading.
He also directed that copies be made available to the Governor for necessary action.
Parliament in a similar exercise amended the Bill for a Law changing the Institute of Management Studies, Usen to Edo State Polytechnic, Usen and other purposes connected therewith 2002.
The request which was also contained in a Governor’s message to the House saw the House going through all the clauses and attendant status of the Law and thereafter suspended its extant rules to give effect to the exercise.
The House then adjourned to the 19th of September for further Legislative activities.
