Board of Beatrice Oluwasanya Foundation (BOF) has identified Economic deprivation and lack of Youth engagement as the leading course of social vices in underserved communities across the country.
A statement which was released to newsmen in Uso, Owo Local Government by Comrade Afolabi Temitope, the Administrative and Media Relations Manager disclosed that the volume of reported cases of teen pregnancy and substance abuse among the youth is very disturbing.
He identified the age group as one that requires special assistance which Beatrice Oluwasanya Foundation is fully committed to positively engaged in scheme of things.
He how ever assured that BO Foundation shall support eligible women and enrol Youths in vocational training by providing financial assistance in form of grants, loans and cash awards.
This, he said, depends on the decision of the Board of Trustees to screen such candidate and work with the individuals who had completed vocational training but lacks the financial resources to set up or start a trade.
Through BOFoundation activities and support, he said, the Foundation hope to create economic independent women and young people by empowering them to contribute positively to the economic development of the community.
The Administrative and Media Relations Manager how ever gave the composition of BOARD OF TRUSTEES of BOF to include strong professionals across different spectrums of human endeavors which cuts across legal, academia, finance, clergy and entrepreneurs with over 100 years of combined leadership and administrative experience.
These he said, are passionate individuals desirous of contributing their time and resources towards alleviating the pains of the underprivileged.
In his own contribution, the Director of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Safe Oluwafemi said, late Mrs. Oluwasanya Oluwafemi trained in tailoring adding that she became popular in her field because she was good at sewing;
He gave the testimony that his mother, late Madam Beatrice Oluwafemi was a dedicated and honest woman as a good trainer, who was known around Akure, Owo and Uso environs.
As a popular trainer in sewing, at a time, her apprentice numbered about thirty-six, three dozens”.
“Mama Tailor” as she was popularly known, he said, was the first tailor around Akure, Uso and Owo to arrange two-shift-work hours for her workers coupled with her affection to her husband, children and other immediate family members.
