The states governors has been cautioned against the creation of state police, for the unity of this great country in a  present democratic dispensation.
This was re-itereted by Youth For Development And National Unity (YODAN) in a press statement signed by it’s president,  Malam Lawan Buhari,  warning  that creation of state police may become a  channel for  politisicing  the Nigerian Police especially in a democratic system of government.
The association  opined that  Nigeria is a big country, therefore the police force   should  remain a single body that works under one command for the speedy implementation of all aspects of security enforcements in all the 36 states including the FCT.
He also warn that if the issue of states police is actualized, each state would tends to bring out some policies  that may bring confusion and disunity between the states authorities and those who usually visited  states on bussiness or similar activities.
In conclusion,  YODAN called on the overhaul of the Nigerian security systems so as to meet the global standard and for the resourceful implementation of all the policies that would suit all the six geo-political zones of Nigeria as a big nation.
