Dogara Hails Conduct Of Bauchi South Senatorial Bye-Election

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has commended the weekend peaceful conduct of Bauchi South senatorial bye election.
 
“It is physically okay if there is no problem, the exercise was peaceful and I hope that is the way it was conducted across all the polling units in Bauchi South senatorial district of Bauchi state”, he said.
 
The Speaker, who explained that if there isn’t anything happen during the coalition of voters’ cards because, according to him, that’s where you are going to have problem.   
 
Dogara told journalists shortly after casting his vote at Gwaranga ward that, “Thankfully in this part of Nigeria especially Bauchi state, people will be there, agents will be there to escort the votes from polling unit to the LG coalition centres and then to the state”.
 
“So hopefully there shouldn’t be any problem, and I hope it was peacefully done the way I have seen it done before”, saying however that democracy will continue to thrive despite the political developments in the country.
 
He urged politicians to play politics according to laydown rules and avoid politics of violence in the county. 
 
On turnout of voters, Dogara said, “I’m impressed by the turn out of voters at all the polling units at the local government area and I’m appealing to the people of the state to continue to be law abiding in order to attract more dividends of democracy”.
 
“So far the conduct of the election has been peaceful. As you can see the people came out and cast their votes without any violence”.
When asked about the outcome of the  election, the Speaker said  that he cannot predict the outcome of the elections for now, but  he want to believe what happened here is a reflection of what happened in the other six local government areas of the state
