Disabled Persons Extol Qualities Of Senator Bassey

Disabled persons under the umbrella of Cross Riverain with Disabilities Crowd Initiative, have described the Senator representing Southern senatorial district Senator Gershom Bassey as “God sent messiah” in proffering solutions to their challenges”.
The President of Cross Riverian with disabilities Crowd Initiative,  Mr. Moses Eyo made this known while speaking at the Senator Gershom Bassey Empowerment programme for his members in Calabar.
Eyo who welcomed dignitaries at the occasion,  described “him as a hero of our time having taken very special interest and compassion on the disabled”.
According to him,  “what you are witnessing today is the handiwork of Senator Gershom Bassey. We used the proceeds from the bus he donated to the association to purchase these empowerment items for our members”.
He said this is the first phase only 10 of our members benefitted and promised that subsequent phases would carry more members along
He said that the beneficiaries were duly consulted on what they needed before purchase was made.
The items worth millions of Naira include,  cassava processing machine, computer sets,  generating sets,  refrigerators, hair dressing and make up tools as well as poultry farming.
Eyo,  therefore called on well spirited Nigerians to emulate the good gesture of Senator Gershom Bassey by also powering the disabled in our society.
He stated that the sustainable empowerment programme is not only for Cross Riverians who are disabled but for all disables in the Nigeria.
Said he, “we cut across the while country. We need to carry our brothers and sisters who reside in the state along”.
Therefore,  he said,  “having done so well to remember and cater for our welfare,  we are requesting him to go back for the second term as the Senator representing the Southern senatorial district come 2019”.
Speaking, the chain of the occasion,  Hon. Elizabeth Ironbar,  member representing Akpabuyo 1 state constituency,  promised to reach out to Senator Gershom Bassey for more goodies for the association.
She expressed joy and happiness for identifying with disabled since 2012 and assured them of his continuous support.
Ironbar advised them to their individual problems to God as He is the only one who can solve them.
She blames some politicians for not identifying with the disabled in our society and urged Senator Bassey to continue in his good works.
She commended the state governor Senator Ben Ayade for assenting to the bill on disabled persons sponsored by her in the State House of Assembly as well as Senator Gershom for empowering the disabled.
She announced that there will be Ayade Outreach free medical treatment for them and members of their families soon.
Earlier, RT.Hon. Maurice Edem,  said the bus Senator Gershom donated a year ago has brought succour to members of this organisation through quality leadership.
According to him “Senator Gershom Bassey has asked to say that he is proud of your leadership and as a result will encourage you the more”.
“What we are experiencing  today shows that this organisation needs more encouragement,  he added”.
The state commissioner of Police CP Hafiz I. Mohammed,  was represented at the occasion by the DPO of State Housing, DSP,  Innocent Iyaboti.
