Defamation: Court adjourns Bright’s case to Nov 10

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Chediya G.R.A Zaria and presided over by Chief Magistrate Auwal Musa has adjourned the case of defamations of character and theft against Alhaji Abubakar Iliyasu (Bright) to 10th November, 2016 in a case file by the Commissioner of Police for the continuation of hearing of the last witness.
Testifying before Chief Magistrate Auwal Musa, the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) Sergeant Suleiman Abubakar told the court that on the 30th May, 2016, he received a complain from one Alhaji Yusuf Salihu (Shaka) that on 25th May, 2016 that one Rilwanu told him, the accused person Alhaji Abubakar Iliyasu (Bright) of No. 3 Bomo Street, Samaru is going round telling people that the complainant is a womanizer abusing him which he said is damaging to his reputation in the community.
Sgt Suleiman Abubakar further told the court that the complainant Alh. Yusuf Salihu Shaka accused Alhaji Abubakar Iliyasu (Bright) of stealing some of his building materials and electrical fittings worth N750,000.00 when they were moving together.
He said, all efforts to get the accused person for investigation proved abortive until when the police wrote to his Ward Head (Mai Anguwa) before he presented himself for the investigation and Alh. Abubakar Iliyasu (Bright) give all his information willingly without any intimidation.
Alh. Abubakar house and conducted a search and at the course of the search some items suspected were recovered which was already used but we snap their pictures which I presented them to the court as exhibit which includes two cement blocks.”
Despite accepting the exhibits to be admitted into the witness the defence counsel Barrister Mohammed while cross examination, he reject all the exhibits already accepted by the court.
The Chief Magistrate Auwal Musa fixed 10th Novemver, 2016 for the continuation of hearing of the last witness.
