A band of daring, unknown persons armed with guns on Thursday attacked the Kutigi Divisional Police Station in the home town of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris Kpotun where they fell a Police Sergeant and injured scores of Police on duty.
The gunmen were said to have swooped on the Divisional Police Station, catching the Policemen unawares as they shot sporadically and forcefully attempted to gain entrance into the armoury of the station.
The armed men who were most likely on weapons hunt, nearly over powered the station officers on guard but for the bravity of a Policeman manning the armoury.

The state Police image maker, ASP Abubakar Mohammed confirmed the incident but said the Police have lunched a man hunt to fish out the hoodlums.
He said the Police on guard at the Divisional Police Station successfully repelled the attack and forced the attackers to abandon their mission following intensive counter fire exchange from the Policemen at the station.

A little over a month ago, another band of armed men had attacked the Divisional Police Station at Gbako, in Lemu and shot sporadically as they fought to gain access into the station’s strong room for weapons.
The Police later said the attackers were repelled but denied that hunters and members of the area’s vigilante group had assisted in fighting and routing the criminal invaders out of the station.
The Police has not made any arrest of criminals who perpetrated the attacks despite insistence that it is on top of the situation.
