The Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung, has donated a brand new tractor to his community in Sabongida, Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The Minister who made the donation while addressing some members of his community over the weekend, stressed the need for people to go into farming business to compliment government efforts in food production.
“This brand new tractor I offer to all farmers in Langtang South to ease cultivation of your farms. The tractor will work on a maximum of five hectares of land per individual farmer on first in first out basis, without partiality and nobody should charge any farmer for such service except a token, only, for the purchase of diesel “
The Minister urged his community to deeply embrace farming in order to ensure a bumper harvest.
This is cheerful news to farmers in the area in view of the non delivery of 400 tractors promised Plateau farmers by the Government under the leadership of Simon Lalong.
It would be recalled that during his official visit to Plateau State, President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned 400 tractors the State Government claimed it had procured for distribution to farmers in the state.
However since that ceremonial commissioning and with the rainy season in full swing, most farmers are yet to see the 400 tractors let alone utilize them.
